As a college student, one of the top priorities is saving money- right?
With larger corporations located conveniently on every corner it’s hard to shop elsewhere.
What students may not be aware of is that there are also many independent businesses in the heart of downtown London, as well as scattered throughout the city.
Local independent businesses put in a lot of extra work in to gain and maintain customers. One of the main ways smaller businesses get customers, is through word of mouth as they do not have the funds to advertise on TV or radio, as larger corporations do. Students at Fanshawe College say that they would much rather support local businesses and put their money back into the economy and the community.
Mitch Blanchard says, “I agree with smaller business because I find when I go into those local businesses they treat me a lot better.”
With larger corporations expanding such as Wal-Mart, students say that they will continue to support local.
Especially local farmers for the freshness and quality of the food because when it comes to college meals, quality is the number one priority. Many students had the same opinion when it comes to where their money is going.
Students seem to care more about the quality rather than the price.
