College is a huge investment that sends most students into debt before they even reach their 20’s.
But what most students don’t realize is that there are many bursaries and scholarships you can apply for every year to help you with all the college expenses.
Fanshawe offers college wide scholarships, entrance scholarships, athletic scholarships and more.
The easiest way to start working towards paying off your school loans, is to constantly be applying for these bursaries and scholarships.
Bursary Coordinator in Financial Aid at Fanshawe, Kelly Armstrong, explains other ways to be proactive on paying back your loans.
“don’t spend what you don’t have to, live the student life, and any money you do have left over at the end of the year, pay back right away. Just get in that habit and that will help you minimize your debt” – Kelly Armstrong
Applying for scholarships now and in the beginning of May is the best time so that you are not forgetting deadlines in the future.
Kelly gives details about when you should be applying
“apply in May, the full application will be open. Set a reminder to get that taken care of” -Kelly Armstrong
Although Fanshawe offers many opportunities for scholarships there are many other places outside of school where you can look. Checking in with where you work, where you volunteer, clubs you might belong to and even with family members, is important in making sure you discover all your options and get the financial help you need.
