The plan is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on campus.
The team involved in energy conservation and demand management has built Solar Walls on many buildings across the school.
One of many buildings on campus that have solar walls.
Solar Walls use the sun to help heat buildings. It does this by increasing the outside temperature when the sun hits the system, which allows the supply air to adjust accordingly.

With several of these walls across Fanshawe College, Energy Coordinator Nathan Gerber says they need to be constructed in specific locations.
“We need to have them on the south or east side of the buildings to have any benefit”
With energy conservation a top priority for Fanshawe, Gerber mentioned that they can reduce natural gas spending.
“We have these solar walls on multiple buildings across campus, which will help lower costs for natural gas”
