The City of London runs two outdoor rinks during the winter. One at Victoria Park and one out front of the Covent Garden Market. The rink at Victoria Park will open Saturday, December 5th at 10 a.m.
Outdoor skating normally runs between early December and mid-March depending on the weather conditions. The city is asking that those who visit outdoor rinks follow the COVID precautions outlined by the Province of Ontario and the Middlesex London Health Unit, including
- Maintaining six feet of physical distance from others
- Applying alcohol bases sanitizer when arriving and leaving the rink
- Coughing or sneezing into your sleeve
- and staying home if you don’t feel well
Signs will be posted at each location as reminders of the safety protocol. If the rink is overcrowded the city asks that you wait till the crowd lessens or come back later. Washroom facilities will be open at each rink, however indoor changing facilities and skate rentals will not be available this year.
City staff are working to open the outdoor rink in Victoria Park so that you can get your skate on starting tomorrow at 10 a.m., weather permitting.
