Over the years, LEGO has established itself as one of the most popular toys on the planet. The brand has its own theme parks with LEGOLAND, they have sets based around almost everything, and they appeal to everyone.
For those who don’t know, LEGO is a building block toy that was created in 1932 in Denmark by a wooden toy-maker from the same place. LEGO first came to North America in the 60s, and it has only grown in popularity since. LEGO has a lot of fans all over the world, it is a universally enjoyed toy, for both children and adults alike.
In recent years LEGO has become a big collector’s item. The company released an adult-targeted line with “Creator Expert” as well as the Ultimate Collector’s Series sets in the Star Wars line.
The introduction of these lines has led to a lot of new fans coming to build LEGO and has opened up a world of enjoyment for all kinds of people.
Jared Okoda is a 19-year-old collector of the Star Wars line and he discussed why he enjoys LEGO
“I’ve been collecting since I was little I’d say like 15 years, my parents got me a few sets for my birthdays and I went on to continue collecting the Star Wars sets because I grew up watching it. I really enjoy the experience of building these sets and completing them.”
Brian Roberts on the other hand is a 38-year-old dad, Brian collects the LEGO Technic line, which is a bit more advanced because it utilizes motors to move parts of the sets.
“I started collecting technic when I was working on military submarines. I was an engineer for a long time and when I wasn’t doing it, I really wanted to keep doing that kind of work, that’s how I got into technic. I tried to get my kids into it but it only stuck with me.”
These two show two very different kinds of people sharing this passion for LEGO. They have their own reasons for collecting, and they collect different kinds, but LEGO is still a source of joy for both of them.
LEGO is loved worldwide and will be for years to come. With its growth over the years, it is no wonder it is so popular, there is a theme for everyone.
