In 2017/18, Man City won their third premier league title with a record of 32 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses. With that feat, the club was the first in Premier League history to ever reach 100 points with City winning the league with 100 points exactly, giving that season’s roster the “Centurions” nickname. Within the 2017/18 season, they broke numerous records with a few to name like the new Premier League points record (100), most goals scored in a season (106), and for consecutive league wins (18). The next season, Pep Guardiola led the side to another winning season where they won a treble, and were the first club to ever hold England’s 4 trophies after winning the League, FA Cup, Supporters Shield and the League Cup. Over the course of the season, City had a 81.97% win rate over the 4 English competitions. Through the two winning seasons, out of a possible 228 points, City picked up 195. If that doesn’t solidify them as one of the top teams in the Prem, I don’t know what to tell you. In 2017/18 out of the 11 positions on the pitch, City had 5 players in the Professional Footballers Association Team of the year and had 6 players in the PFA team the following year. Sure they haven’t had the best track record in the Champions league with Liverpool winning Europe’s top team tournament in 2019/20 while going onto win the Prem alongside it.
But, with City in the quarterfinals of this year’s Champions League, and matched up against Borussia Dortmund, who they are favored to beat, they’ll have to face either Bayern Munich or Paris St. Germain in the semi finals if they are to move past Dortmund. With that said, in the past 5 years, City have won the Premier League twice, broken multiple records in their way, and have been good in European play. For the time being, I think its a safe bet when I say that Manchester is Blue.
