There are approximately 228,000 Canadian Armed Forces Veterans currently living in Ontario.
Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca is making a promise to every one of them.
If the Liberal party topples Doug Ford’s Conservative party, the Liberal Government would give each of the veterans free public transit and licence plate renewal.
“We have to more do more than just talk the talk, we actually have to walk the walk and provide them with tangible symbols of our gratitude and tangible reminders that we know what we owe them for the work that they have taken up on our behalf. ” Del Duca said Wednesday morning.
Depending on where you live, plate renewal can range from $60 to $120, while transit can vary from $3 a ride, to $21.
Del Duca stated the plan would save Ontario’s veterans nearly $65 million.
In 2019, the Ford government gave veterans and active Armed forces members free fishing licences.
In order to take advantage of the benefits, veterans would just need to show their Veterans Service card.
“I think it’s so important for those of us in leadership positions to make sure that we do remind ourselves and remind our veterans that we do honour them, that we are grateful for what they continue to do for us and for our country.”
