Fanshawe Student Union hosted its annual Clubs Day down at the Oasis Friday hoping to attract new students to the variety of clubs available to students.
Clubs on display at the event included the Fanshawe Muslim Students Association, Chess Club, Anime Club, and Spectrum 2.0.
Tonya, the Advocacy, and communications director here at Fanshawe works with the clubs on campus and helps schedule events like Clubs Day talked about how they had seen a large drop in students joining clubs and hopes to bolster club attendance with events like these.
“So previously we had nine student clubs but with everything being back in person, we are closer to 20 clubs now,” said Tonya when talking about her work to entice students to try and start their own clubs with more students back on campus after the pandemic.
“So now since everything is back on campus, students are getting ready to be engaged and being a part of their community to feel safer and have a community they can turn to,” she said, hoping club attendence will continue to increase in the coming months.
