Tariffs are on every Canadian’s mind at the moment. With the looming threat of a trade war, Canadians are switching their habits in order to support Canada. Canadians are switching their shopping habits in order to not support the American Economy. Canadians have shown outrage with the way that U.S. President Trump has treated their closest ally. Canada and the U.S have been each other’s closest ally for centuries and now Canadians feel that their closest ally has stabbed them in the back.
Trump has made these tariffs a major outline for his presidency since they started campaigning back in the summer of 2024. Trump wanted tougher border security from both Mexico and Canada. Trump announced another delay in the tariffs until April 2. Trump has stated his plan with these tariffs is to put financial pressure on Canada.
Grocery Stores have put up Canadian Flag stickers to outline which products are Canadian. These stickers along with the threat of a trade war have encouraged Canadians to buy Canadian.
