U Sports Canada has released their latest weekly top 10, which includes some local representation.
As the Western Mustangs settle into the holiday break, a few of their teams are proud to be top 10 in the nation.
The men’s basketball team sits on the podium, ranked third in Canada. This is down from last week’s first place ranking, as the Mustangs (10-1) were overtaken by the Bishop’s Gaiters (5-1), and the Victoria Vikings (9-2).
Meanwhile, the women’s volleyball team snuck into the rankings at tenth place. The Mustangs (7-3) moved up two spots from the previous week, but are still behind a few provincial rivals including the McMaster Marauders (7-3), and the Brock Badgers (9-1).
The Mustangs will rest up over the holiday break, but both teams look to improve their placements in January.
