London businesses have teamed up to provide a festive-filled day for Londoners.
DoughEV, Artisan Bakery, Cafezia, and many more are coming together to bring the whole community together during the holidays.
Kayla Bailey had only started organizing this year. Despite this, she said it’s been incredibly fulfilling and successful.
She goes by “O.HeyIt’sKay” on social platforms. She’s an artist and has also described herself as a “community connector.”
“Its just really cool…do you wanna collaborate…its an experiment in motion” said Bailey of her job.
Her monthly art market provides creatives from around the forest city with a platform to connect and sell their works. She has also run free markets in the past with other organizers, such as Fats of Forest City.
The goal of the market is to promote sustainability and provide an opportunity to give back this season. Take what you need and leave what you don’t.
To up the excitement, Bailey has collaborated with The Empathy Collective to hold the Baked with Love fundraiser.
The group was founded by four Fanshawe students who are now alumni. It’s built around the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Specifically, 16.1 “Reduce all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere.”
One of the group’s founders and its sole remaining leader, Ellie Maidlow, has been friends with Bailey for a while. They began discussing the idea with others, and it quickly expanded to involve the 7 organizers/organizations now making it happen.
All proceeds are going to London Cares. There will be activities such as trivia, an auction, free pictures with Santa, and even a treat designing contest.
Both events take place this Sunday, December 7th.
The free market will happen upstairs at DoughEV. It starts at 11 am and continues until 4 pm.
Then down at London Brewing Co-op, there’s Baked with Love from 12 pm to 6 pm.
