Speakers at Tampon Tuesday, hosted at Boler Mountain, March 24
On March 24, 2026, Boler Mountain hosted Tampon Tuesday, raising donations of feminine hygiene products for the London Food Bank. The event is a way for women in the community to socialize, network, and uplift each other, with admission being just a donation of pads or tampons.
“Tampon Tuesday was founded when my mom went to the food bank and realized there was no menstrual hygiene product donations,” says Ava Wombwell, the host of Tampon Tuesdays in Toronto, and daughter of Mandi Fields, the founder of the original Tampon Tuesdays, originating in London. She went on to say, “menstrual hygiene products are one of the most requested yet least donated items at the food bank, we also know they can be incredibly expensive, and […] it can come down to the difference of buying food, or buying a box of tampons.”
Emma Aldredge is the Volunteer and Events coordinator at the London Food Bank. She says one of the things food banks do, besides giving food, is combatting “period poverty“. However, she also highlighted that menstrual products are something that food banks go through extremely quickly. “The feminine hygiene products are things that we don’t cap,” Aldredge says, “So if you have six women in your family that are menstruating, then you’re going home with six orders of that.”
Aldredge went on to highlight ways people can donate to the food bank, stating: “You can drop the donations off at the food bank. We are open Monday to Friday 9 to 4 for people to access our services and also for donations. Also, any of the grocery stores in town, we have bins throughout the city at grocery stores, so you can drop them off just while you’re doing your grocery shopping.”
