The federal government has announced it will be enforcing incoming travellers to quarantine in hotels for at least three days to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
They are also suspending all travel to Caribbean destinations.
All arrivals will undergo COVID-19 testing, then will isolate in an approved hotel while they wait for their results.
For those who test negative, they will be able to return home and will then complete the rest of a 14-day quarantine.
Those who test positive will have to stay in a hotel until they recover.
Flights to and from vacation destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico have been stopped and will remain suspended until at least April 30.
All incoming foreign flights are now only being permitted to land in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary.
It seems many of the Canadian “snowbirds” are planning on extending their travel time to avoid these new restrictions.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has stated that these restrictions are to discourage non-essential travel to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and its variants.
