The London Knights were crowded midwest division champions earlier today after their shootout loss against the Guelph Storm. This was only possible due to the fact going into the game the knights only needed 1 point from this game to accomplish the franchise’s 13th division title.
Despite the festivities of becoming division champs, the knights have struggled as of late as they have lost their last six games and with the playoffs right around the corner, it calls for a bit of concern. I spoke with alternate captain Sean McGurn before the game and expressed how important it was to get the division title as well as overcome the losing streak, here is what he had to say.
Although the knights didn’t come out on top they still grabbed a 1 point, which brought their regular season tally to 81 points. They’ve already clinched a playoff spot but are playing for seeding in the playoffs. they can finish as high as the 2nd seed but as low as the 5th seed. The knights have 3 games left in the regular season and 2 of the remaining games will be at home. It’ll be imperative for the knights to go into the playoffs with a winning streak and boost the overall morale of the team if they want to make a deep playoff run to lift the OHL championship as well as the memorial cup.
