Fans came to the watch BMO Centre’s FIFA Watch Party to see Canada face off against Belgium during Canada’s first game of the Championship.
Many fans came to watch and support Team Canada including families and friends.
Fans like Michael who was there at the Watch party with his grandson James and his father Diego to show their support for Canada.
“My kids and my grandkids love and are actually enrolled in the soccer programs for the kids here,” said Michael as he and his family closely watched the match.
Also in attendance for the watch party was Francine who has always been a lifelong fan of the sport.
“My favourite memory is being in my little village where I was born in Italy, and it was the 1998 World Cup. Italy won that game and pandemonium set in, it was just too much fun,” said Fran.
Soccer has also played a large part in Fran’s grandchildren’s lives as well.
All my children played soccer through the years and my grandson played here in the BMO” Fran continued.
Although sadly Fran’s grandson Enzo wasn’t able to make it to the game as he was sick.
Canada played hard during the match as Belgium eventually came out with a 1-0 win.
Canada’s next games will be against Croatia this Sunday and then Morroco Thursday.
