“Living sustainably is a good start to making the world a better place.” Nicole Karsch is a manager at the London Environment Network that has a passion for residential sustainability and finding out ways to improve our lifestyle. “I’m proud to be with organizations that are passionate about sustainability, with a focus in residential. I love talking to homeowners and sharing tips on how to make our spaces more efficient, comfortable and green.”
According to Jamie Skimming, London’s energy and climate manager, you can make your home more sustainable by “some little things around the house”. For example, “turning down your thermostat when you’re not at home, this could save easily five to 10 percent of your gas bill.” Skimming also mentioned that you can do other things that aren’t expensive, such as, “basic draft-proofing, especially around exterior doors and windows.”
When asked about her inspirations, Karsch told us how rewarding it was to have so many people in London care about going green. “To see the excitement and the optimism of London homeowners is really great. Everyone seems to be really passionate about sustainability and are already trying to do things around their home and within their life. And even in the broader community, just seeing what the city of London is doing with different organizations, with or without an environmental focus, to be more sustainable.” Karsch and Skimming will be at many more events around London throughout the coming weeks.
