The London Health Sciences Center is closing it’s CCFCC Clinics after serving as a local COVID-19 assessment, testing, and treatment centre since March 2020.
The final day of service is April 28, but prior to their closing date hours are being adjusted.
Starting Monday, April 17th the clinic will move away from it’s seven-day schedule and shift to a Monday to Friday Schedule. The CCFCC will be open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The cause for the reduced hours and ultimate close of the CCFCC is the decreased prevalence of COVID-19 across the region and lower appointment volume due to that.
Despite closing the CCFCC was an integral tool for the community in fighting the pandemic.
“The CCFCC has been an important resource for patients and an essential alternative to our Emergency Departments since the onset of the pandemic,” said Jerry Plastino, Ambulatory Care and Pharmacy Executive at the London Health Sciences Centre. “We are so grateful to our staff, physicians and community partners who supported this vital service for our community over the past three years.”
The LHSC made sure to maximize the usage of the CCFCC extending services to flu like conditions, as well as extending paediatric services.
Once the CCFCC closes its doors, individuals who require a COVID-19 test or medication such as Paxlovid or Remdesivir are encouraged to contact their primary care provider (family doctor or nurse practitioner), or at certain pharmacies in the region.
Those who are experiencing cold and flu-like illness should contact their primary care provider or visit a walk- in clinic or an urgent care centre.
