Harold Usher councillor for ward 2 has decided to not seek re-election for next term. the 79 year old councillor who has been on the London city council for 18 years thinks now is the time to step away from politics.
the 79 year old Usher told XFM News that he is deciding not to run for re-election because he wants to spend more time with his family saying quote “I am going to spend a little more time showing them i appreciate them” in regards to working on council for 18 years. Usher who is from Belize was one of two minorities on council with Mohamed Salih.
Usher says that he would like to see more women and minorities on council saying “I have been encouraging women and visible minorities to run for city council” the next municipal election is in October and Usher says he wants his successor to be the best person for the job.
