Fanshawe’s Respiratory Therapy Student Federation (RTSF) is holding a bake sale to fund their trip to Guatemala.
“We will be selling lots of different snacks and treats and all the fundraising is going to be going towards the team that is going to Guatemala this June”, says Lexi, RTSF Conference Coordinator.
“we’re doing this because we have to pay for our own accommodations and flights, etc. when we are in Guatemala” Lexi says.
This is a yearly trip for Fanshawe’s Respiratory Therapy program.
“Guatemala is currently a developing country which is very underprivileged in respects to health care.” says Lexi, “There’s many residents that don’t have access to any basic health care such as vaccinations.”
More than 6 million Guatemalans are without access to basic healthcare, according to usaid.gov.
“We are going to be helping out the residents specifically of Antigua, Guatemala in their daily needs”, says Lexi, “we will try our best to help them out and we’re going to be bringing some medical supplies over as well.”
The bake sale will be held in Fanshawe’s F building, on Mar, 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
