Five fire trucks pulled up to the Oakridge public secondary school when a fire alarm went off during school hours. Lunch time was approaching when one one of the fire alarms went off due to a gas leak. One of the pipes at the school started leaking gas and no one knew what was going on.
All students, staff and faculty, including teachers were evacuated from the school. As they stood outside trying to grasp an understanding of the situation. Fire truck after fire truck showed up to the secondary school to see what was going on.
“Well I saw one fire truck and one police car, but I think their might have been more up front.” said a student from Oakridge public secondary school.
“There were like three or four (firetrucks) and police cars too. Yeah they were suiting up too. Like firefighters were suiting up.” added another student from Oakridge public secondary school.
The London Ontario fire chief, Lori Hamer was there as well suiting up and getting ready to investigate. Shortly after around 20 minutes passed and everything was fine. All school personnel, including teacher, faculty and staff were let back inside. students were also let back inside although some decided to go home.
School procedures were back to normal and it became lunch time for some students and staff. No one was hurt or injured during the incident. After the gas leak was taken care of the custodian was attempted to be contacted, but he wasn’t available because he was still busy trying to figure out how the gas leak happened or even started.
