A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a car on Oxford Street East at Wethered Street.
The incident occurred in front of Tim Horton’s.
London Police have shut down Oxford Street from Mornington Avenue to High Holborn Street, in both directions to investigate the incident.
A witness of the crash, Tim Horton’s employee Ishaan Khatun, shares what he saw.
“When I came out it was police vans and it was all the ambulances covering the scene, so they were giving the CPR.” Khatun said.
He also gave a general timeline of events, saying CPR lasted about 30 minutes at the scene, sometime between 5 to 6 p.m.
According to a social media post, the road will remain closed as police will be utilizing a drone.
“The Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) will be used as part of an investigation” police said. There is still no update as to when the road will re-open.
This accident is a tragic reminder for bikers. Motorcyclist fatalities increased by 40% between 2011-2020 according to Statistics Canada.
The increase is a concern as the summer months come closer and the weather gets better. More motorcycles will be out on the road and officials say drivers need to be more aware of the increased risk that it presents to all on the road.
Police were asked about further details, but said they could give no more information at this time.
